Sumire Pikake,
keep the smile on your lips, brush the tears from your eyes
THE BASICS: Age: twenty-two Orientation: pansexual Gender: female occupation: errand girl/gofer Appearance: Height: 5'2 Weight: 120 lbs Hair color: chestnut Brown Eye color: Bright Blue OUT OF CHARACTER: ooc name: bee face claim: Phoebe, Pokemon art credit: milkayart | Personality S is for Sunny: Sumire’s sunny disposition and the kindness that follows have never been one to fade away in the company of others, especially those she holds close. Her optimism can be seen as clear as day, from the brightness of her eyes to her easy, lopsided grin. It’s something she tries hard to share with others and while her heart may be in the right place, it can come off as overbearing at times. She wants people to be happy. More importantly, she wants them to be happy around her. U is for Uncertainty: There are a number of things the young woman has been uncertain of; Does her family regret her? Do people actually enjoy her presence? Is she a nuisance? These doubtful feelings have plagued her for years, and to say it isn’t the fuel for her desire to be liked by everyone all the time would be a lie. Sumire wants to ask for validation. She wants to ask for clarification. “You still like me, right? You like being my friend, right? You don’t regret meeting me, right?” It tears and eats away at her until all that’s left is the dissociative body of a young woman who smells of sea salt and flowers. M is for Musical: Song has always flowed through her body. Both musically and rhythmically inclined, Sumire carries herself like she’s in a perpetual dance. Her movements are graceful and thought out- most of the time, at least. Despite being too flustered to sing or play instruments in front of people, she’s always willing to dance. Absolutely loves learning new dance styles and discovering music genres. I is for Impulsive: Sumire has never been one to think before she acts. Sometimes it works out, but most times it ends up with her acquiring a new bruise. Her impulsive tendencies leak beyond ‘Fight or Flight’ experiences. If her friend wants a specific mushroom from the top of the mountain, she’s already halfway there. If there’s a thought in her mind, under most circumstances, she’ll share it without a moment of hesitation. The young woman has mellowed out since her youth, but it can still be a handful to deal with. R is for Restless: Some call it being too energetic, others call it being restless. Sumire has difficulty staying still for long periods of time. Even when she sits, her legs swing back and forth and her fingers phantom play whatever instrument that comes to mind. She always needs to be doing something, whether it be physically or mentally. The former would make her an excellent busybody, if she could maintain enough interest to finish the work. E is for Eager: Sumire wakes up every day with an eagerness most would deem childish. A new day means new chances, new opportunities and experiences, and that thought alone has the young woman bouncing off the walls. This leads her to being easily excitable. This also leads her to performing many favors in hopes of making the other person happy. Eager to please, eager for validation. Give her that validation and she’ll think about it all day. Sumire is, in the simplest terms, basically a puppy. History I. Sumire didn't think of herself as an accident. Neither did her fathers, but what does someone call a child who was unplanned? What does one call that same unplanned child when they force one of their fathers to go through a myriad of painful experiences, each one transcending the physical? Sumire shouldn't know this information. Her fathers told her that she was a gift- a pure miracle- and they had never treated her as anything less than such. And yet she still knew. She was created from love. She knows that. She sees it every time her fathers reunite after work. She sees it when they embrace and smile at one another and hold hands under the kitchen table and lean into each other subconsciously like they're two pieces of a magnet. Sumire doesn't call herself an accident, and yet... II. The Southern Island of Hau'oli had been smaller than the other Isles, but it still had its share of beauty. The smell of sea salt that weaved with the fragrant jasmines. The palettes of the sky as the sun set. The sound of the bugs singing the arrival of nighttime. The land treated them kindly and the people, shaped from the same clay, treated them even kinder. Maybe it had been Sumire’s mistake to believe people off the island would be just as kind. Maybe it was childish to force herself to believe the world beyond the rolling waves had been just a beautiful, but she did. Sometimes she forgets it’s forced in the first place, because she’ll feel the warmth of a good-natured stranger and suddenly, all she can smell is sea salt and jasmine. III. The first time she left Hau'oli, it had been because of her adventurous spirit. The second time, it was to give the mainland people the benefit of the doubt. The third time, it was at her fathers' insistence. Calchester Village was just a speck on the map, but it had been where the pin stuck. Plus it was only a several hours boat ride away from the little island. (‘Several hours boat ride’ would’ve deterred many others, but Sumire always found herself the happiest on the water.) Sumire had gone in with low expectations, and perhaps it was because of that that she found herself loving the village. Unaccustomed to the colder weather of Autumn and Winter, she only stayed for Spring and Summer; because saying she was painfully homesick would’ve made her sound more like a child than she already was. IV. And that began the start of her experiment. After three years of the constant back and forth, Sumire has decided to stay. At least for now. Her stomach only tightens at the thought of staying but in truth, she’s scared to find out if it’s from fear or from excitement. ✿ Hates having people read her name, as they can never seem to pronounce it correctly. ❀ Minor cases of dyslexia and ADHD. ✿ Loves cooking food and treats from her home island ❀ Dummy affectionate ✿ Loves horror movies and ghost stories |
