History:
I.
Dahlia Thomas had been a surprise to everyone. A little 'whoopies', if you will. The reactions always varied when that term had been used, and Dahlia always loved to gauge them. She enjoyed prodding those who wore uncomfortable expressions; green bambi eyes looking up at them in painted innocence. Despite the label, the girl had never seen it as a bad thing. "Gotta save the best for last, after all!", she'd chirp with a bright smile. Being the youngest suited Dahlia just fine. And while she'd throw a pout whenever her parents used her age against her, it was easily forgotten when her siblings were there.
II.
There were many perks that came with her position in the family, but there was one Dahlia mourned for more than the rest. It was easy to ignore the turbulence around her when she was the baby. No one wanted to be the one who ruined her rosy world, so people had played along and hid their words until it came bursting at the seams. Dahlia wouldn't have had a problem if the words were about her. Dolly was a good sport; she could laugh about her status as a surprise baby and play into the 'dumb blonde' trope but if there was something she couldn't allow, it was the horrible treatment of her family.
She couldn't understand exactly why the kids at school where being mean to Storm but in retrospect, it had never mattered in the first place. People were being mean to her sibling, plain and simple. She couldn't understand, but it made sense. People on the outside couldn't understand Storm like family could, so it made sense! At least until their brother began sharing those feelings and her rosy world- along with her equally rosy heart- broke in two.
III.
The best part about being cute as a button and sweet as a peach was that battles didn't need to be fought by her own hands. All she had to do was pout her lips and release a drawn out sigh. From there, it was watching the scene fold out while she blew her nails dry. Of course, that's if she ever did that in the first place. Dolly has, and always will be, an angel. She didn't spread rumors about the people who teased her sibling. She didn't befriend the bullies just to use their deepest secrets against them. And when they moved to Calchester and her looks began to mature, she absolutely did not flirt with people just so they could silence the harmful words in the halls.
Whether Storm had graduated from high school was irrelevant. Whether the number of bullies had decreased was irrelevant. Dahlia saw the toll it had taken on them, and to say that her silent crusade ended when they left that little school would be a lie. That is, if such a thing ever existed in the first place. The blonde was pretty and popular and her grades were above average. Her dreams were big and as of last season, starting to take flight. Dolly had no reason to be so mean. Dolly is a good girl.
